Celebrate Rumi, the 13th Century Sufi Master, poet and mystic guide, who lived and taught in Konya, Turkey. His initiatory poetry continues to open humanity’s heart and awareness. Rumi called his transition from the earth his ‘Wedding with Eternity’. People from all traditions came to honor him on this day.

The sema, or sama, is the prayer ceremony of the whirling dervishes of the Sufi Mevlevi Order. This cosmic dance of universal harmony opens the heart and awakens the Soul.
This evening’s performance concludes with a Sufi meditative whirling ceremony. People are invited to dance if they choose and coaching is provided. Come dressed for dancing!

Performing artists are Gabriella Young (poetry transmissions of Rumi, Lalla, Hafiz and others), guest artists Ananda Das (guitar, bansuri flutes), Prem Vidu (djemba, tabla, frame drum, hand pan) and Nicholas Walulik (keyboard).

Ananda Das, anandadas.info, is a passionate musician and educator who specializes in the transformative realms of devotional music, voice coaching, and yoga. His artistic and teaching journey is rooted in the belief that these practices can profoundly heal, inspire, and connect us to our deepest, eternal selves. Through his work, he strives to offer avenues for individuals to explore and deepen their spiritual practice, enhance their vocal expression, and embrace holistic well-being.

Prem Vidu, PremVidu.com, is a Phoenix based sacred music artist. He holds a BFA in Percussion Performance & Jazz Studies from Northern Illinois University. Vidu has performed internationally throughout his music career. He now combines over a decade of leading medicine ceremonies, a decade of chanting, and a lifetime of musical experience which he channels into facilitating sacred music gatherings.
